The original loft guide includes this fourth-generation Nest thermostat walkthrough. If the controls in your unit look different, contact your host before changing unfamiliar settings.
Wake the display & adjust the temperature +
Turn the outer dial to wake the thermostat, then rotate it to adjust the set temperature. The screen shows the room and set temperatures.
Choose heat, cool, or a range +
Press the bottom of the thermostat to open the menu. Turn the dial to Mode and choose Heat, Cool, Heat•Cool, or Off, as appropriate.
Understand Hold & Eco +
Hold temporarily maintains a chosen temperature until the selected time. Eco uses energy-saving settings when appropriate. Follow any unit-specific guidance from your host.
Sensors & the fan +
If available in your unit, the sensor menu chooses which room temperature to prioritize. Fan mode circulates air. Ask your host if you are unsure about the setup.
